Week 35

Hello one and all, here's a new video for you. It's not much in terms of new discoveries, but you can catch a glimpse of some chubby cheeks in this one. Moah and I are doing just fine out here in K.Land. We're in full-on waiting mode. I believe Moah is starting to feel more and more comfortable with the idea of this nine month pregnancy coming to an end.

I believe we're ready in terms of baby products. We've purchased the crib. We've procured the pacifier. We've gotten a hold of a stuffed monkey and a tiny cookie monster. We have a couple of bottles to fill with milk. I think we're ready. Now all we're missing is the Little One to fill our dreams with joy and laughter and our mornings with little stinky presents of love.

It's been a while since we last posted and we are terribly sorry for the delay. Sometimes it's so easy to get wrapped up in the tidbits of life.

We went to see the 'Docteur E.' last Monday and she had absolutely nothing new to say, which is a good thing. We're on the home stretch and we're told that no news=good news. We now have a steady bi-monthly appointment schedule to follow, right up until d-day. Moah is really starting to feel Munchkin move around in there.

We have a new video of our Little One. It's not much and probably not that interesting for most, but you can get a good look at her face in this one (at least, i think you can). If you can make it to 3'39", you will see a few more things we have purchased for our Little One.

A few insiders, who infiltrated the red carpet birthday party out in the boonlands of Quebec, have divulged some wonderful news concerning the status of my Little Sis', a.k.a "La Tarte."

26 Weeks in and going for the final stretch.

We've made it to the 3rd trimester; the last and final trimester of incubation. It's only been a few days and I don't want to state any 'ficfacts' but, this trimester seems to be the most challenging for the M&M combo snack.

Every evening, Munchkin jumps, pushes and throws herself against the walls of her inner home as if to say: "Let me outta here already! What's going on out there?" She truly seems ready for a Ukranian Hopak dance party.

Little M has also been gaining major weight and is quickly closing in on the 1kg mark. One full kilogram wiggling Big M's insides, it's easy (and yes, impossible) to imagine how uncomfortable it must be day-in-day-out. Of course, Moah is still ecstatic about the whole thing.

With 3 months to go, it's hard not to be.

Organic or Plastic?

To go organic or plastic, that is the question.

Expensive :: 10,000 disposable diapers a week at 10,000 dollars a box equals 10,000 extra hours of work.

Easy to follow instructions :: Strap on, strap off, then place in landfill. All in all, a fairly painless process compared to the organic alternative.

Mother Earth :: The environment, on the other hand, takes a few blows to the sphincster on this one.

Cheaper but still not free :: Looks like that overtime card will need to be punched-in after all.

Wiping, rubbing and lathering :: These ones demand that we start a small cleaning company which may go public by year two.

Painless on the environment :: By-product of feces and natural cotton fibres are a nice relief on the environmental sphincster.

After a great debate over watermelon juice and snack-a-roons, it looks like we are going to go with...well, both.

I do believe the Munchkin shopping season has begun. Me Moms and me Little Sis' have been running around town grabbing this and snatching that; a shopping spree for the ages.

On behalf of the Little One, I say: "Thank you...and more thank yous."

I'm happy to see that we're not the only ones excited about this new arrival in our family.

Today is Wednesday; a great day.

You see, Wednesday is hockey day.

Over the years, hockey in Korea has become a nice little break from the rigors of the workweek. Although these days, I'm following a rigid no-work program and enjoying every second of it; a small perk that comes with teaching 200 young adults how to ask for directions to the local movie theatre , bank and pharmacy.

Ahh, hockey; love love LOVE it.

Not to mention that we have a good bunch of people showing up and suiting up to play.

Last week, while I was chugging down a sip of blue power juice, Dave, a teammate of mine, turned to me and said: "I got a bunch of stuff from my little one we're not using anymore. You can have it if you want." "Want? Sounds absolutely superb." I quickly retorted (of course, being on a hockey bench, I cussed between words 3 and 4.)

So here following is a little video I made to say thank you to the Weber family for thinking of us and our little one brewing in the oven.

First Presents

We've been shopping.

Or should I say, Moah's been shopping.

I remember once, when shopping was simple; when all I needed was a shiny steel wrench or an ol' school wooden hockey stick to take up hours of my browsing time. No more. Now it's tiny socks for tiny feet, colourful lights for scary monsters, and pumps to...to pump who knows what.

I nod my head, I shake my head

My job as a shopping helper/carrier seems to consist of very few but nonetheless important duties. Here following is a list of basic duties I found very useful when shopping for Chloé Nurie.

Duty 1: Find a cart and then find wife.
Duty 2: Remain in fairly close vicinity of possible purchases.
Duty 3, the most important of all shopping duties: Nod or shake head when asked questions like: "Do you like the color?" or "Is it cute?"
Note, it is not important if one nods in agreement or shakes in disagreement but, it is VERY important to do one OR the other. Never do both. This will only extend the excursion by a good 30 or so minutes.
Duty 4: Place item in cart and push cart to next item.

Simple, I guess. But I always have problems with the second one.

Week 22

Our wise doctor-of-baby-making asked us to drop by for a visit this past week because she wanted to have a look at Munchkin's bones, organs and blood flow. Needless to say, we were more than happy to oblige; we'll grab at any chance to catch a glimpse of our little one flowing around her mother's stomach.

No sound on this one either...I think my video+sound videos are too large for blogger to handle.

The results are in and it sounds like Munchkin is developing quite nicely. Her little head is oval shaped which was interesting to our doctor as most Korean babies are born with a more rounded shaped head. Her body is well developed and her left foot was measured to be 4.23cm long. She's getting to be a big girl.

Week 16

We went to see Doc.E. yesterday. It was a fairly uneventful meeting in terms of finding out inside information on the possible sex of Our Little One. Still, we did find out that Munchkin has grown to a full 11centimeters and has gained major weight for a total of 160 grams. According to Dr.E.'s wise opinion, Munchkin is developing quite nicely and has hit the 16weeks+4days developmental stage.

We have made a new video for you. Hope it puts a smile on your face.

During this visit, the hospital took some blood samples from Moah's arm to test for foetal abnormalities. We will be getting those results in a week's time. Dr.E. has also started to take full body measurements which she will use to evaluate Munchkin's growth progress. Word on the street is that this month will be the beginning of M and M's weight gain. Should be interesting to see.

The Discovery

It was a typical early Friday morning like any other. At about 8am, my cell phone spewed out a horrible Nintendo-like scream that pulled me back to the lands of the living. I jumped out of bed with enthusiastic pep and walked over to our living room; after all this was game day, much better than the other type of day in my life: work day. I spotted the cats sleeping under some blankets and I patted them on the head to say 'hi'. I then walked over to the computer to turn on the Habs game. It was close to the end of the season and the Habs were fighting for a championship against a divisional foe. As any hockey fan will tell you, an important game to say the least. After a couple of periods of expected Hab-dominance, Moah finally woke up in a daze and walked over for a morning hug. A smile here, a word there, and back to the game I go. A little while later, as third period action began, Moah walked over to me, pulled my headphones from my ears and presented me with one of those little pregnancy sticks that you so often see in romantic comedies. Now, before I continue with this story I think it is imperative that I state the following: ONE, this stick has been presented to me almost every week for the past 8 months, SECOND, it has always been accompanied by the typical: "One line or two lines? One? Two? What do you think? ?This thing is impossible to decipher."

So I took the stick, had a gander, said: "One? Two?...One. Yes, one." then gently gave the pee-stick back and went back to third period action. Moah, on the other hand, was convinced that the invisible second line was obviously popping out and staring us right in the face with the news of a pregnancy. Guess who was right? Never doubt a pregnant woman's intuition; even if there's no second line.

The Little Nose that Could

One the most interesting changes to Moah's body has been this unbelievable discovery of a super-nasal sense of smell. I swear, it's a super sense!! We'll be on a wonderful roundabout; birds singing from tree tops, sun blistering across the lake water, just a beautiful clear day and, all of a sudden, Super-Nasal sense will kick-in. "Smells like cabbage", the nose will say. "Cabbage? Where?" And sure enough, a tiny piece of cabbage will be hanging from a plastic container directly in front of us...it may be a mile away, but it will be there...directly in front of us.

Nothing can get pass the Super-Nasal Sense!!

First Craving: False Alarm?

A few days back, I got a call from Moah asking me to pick up something to munch on.

"Cherry tomatoes!"

she blurted out, and then promptly demanded that I find a crate...or two. Could this be the Munchkin's first food craving? Moah doesn't believe so .....

but she keeps asking for more cherry tomatoes.

I believe she is starting to really enjoy the whole pregnancy experience. Then again, we are still in the elementary stages of it all. As of today, she has had a pretty mellow pregnancy; thankfully lacking in all the hoopla of morning sickness. I hope for her sake that it remains this way. Our next appointment is this Friday. Hopefully we'll have some new pictures to post.

Not much to report on the baby front these days.

We're waiting for our next appointment coming

Our doctor said something about a heart beat but I think it may be a little early

- then again, what do I know.

I met with Moah at Coffee Bean after work today

and I caught her rubbing her stomach while she was having a laugh with her friend. Strange how a mother's instinct just kicks in.

She didn't even realize she was doing it.

::Our little Munchkin has made itself a little home!::

They grow up so fast, don't they? Only last week the little Munchkin was too small for the naked eye, and now the Munchkin is a rockin' 1.05cm tall; one-point-zero-five.

I just read that the foetal projected growth rate at this stage is a full double-up; two-point-one, here we come.
